Happy Monday!

Morning circle time – we had our special helper of the day adding the date to our calendar, we sang our morning songs, then added one more popcorn to our 100th Day of school counting. Today is Monday, so we had our sharing time. JKs shared with the class something they did over the weekend.

Reading Buddies – During reading buddies, students will benefit from:

·        - hearing stories read-aloud (modeling of reading fluency, phrasing and expression)

·       -  having conversations with an older student about topics that interest and involve them (extending their vocabulary, oral language abilities)

·        - having regular opportunities to practice familiar reading with 1:1 assistance

·        - enjoying fun, positive experiences with ‘big kid’ who is now a recognizable face in the school community

Snack – JKs were encouraged to eat a healthy snack.

French class – please visit Mme. Jessica’s blog http://mllehousja.blogspot.com/

Language – we reviewed our phonics song for all letters learned so far. Here is the link for our weekly Jolly Phonics songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7K2rxtgQpd0

This is the song for letter Q: https://youtu.be/CZ6L8EmV3gg

Then we had 2 ways of practicing writing the letter of the week, which is Ss. JKs used the dry erase boards and play dough.

Math/UOI – today we used a variety of nature materials to form AB, ABC and ABB patterns.

Gym class – please visit Ms. V’s blog https://msvphysed.blogspot.com/

Centers -  today JKs had different types of blocks to explore. Blocks are great for developing the following: problem solving, imagination, self expression, mathematics, creativity, science, self –esteem, social and emotional growth.

Poem Practice – JKs are working hard at practicing the following when presenting their poem:

-         Projection

-         Pacing

-         Enunciation and Articulation

-         Memorization

-         Body Language

Poetry memorization builds vocabulary and comprehension. As students practice their poem presentation in class they are building presentation skills, which leads to a sense of pride, satisfaction and accomplishment. Keep up with practicing at home as well! J

Have a great evening everyone!
