Happy Monday!

Morning circle time – we had our special helper of the day adding the date to our calendar, we sang our morning songs, then added one more popcorn to our 100th Day of school counting.

Language – we reviewed our phonics song for all letters learned so far. Here is the link for our weekly Jolly Phonics songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7K2rxtgQpd0

This is the song for letter Q: https://youtu.be/CZ6L8EmV3gg

This week we are learning the name, sound and formation of letter Rr. Today JKs used play dough to form the uppercase and lowercase Rr. After forming the letter Rr, students had the opportunity to use play dough cutters. The benefits of manipulating play dough are numerous and children of all ages have much to gain from engaging with play dough activities. Here are some of the benefits: fine motor skill development, creativity and imagination, hand-eye co-ordination, social skills, literacy and numeracy development.

Math/UOI – today we continued to learn about patterns. Students completed a cutting and pasting activity where they were encouraged to finish the patterns.

Math – we reviewed the 2D shapes and then practiced drawing the shapes.

Gym class – please visit Ms. V’s blog https://msvphysed.blogspot.com/

Centers -  today JKs had different types of blocks to explore. Blocks are great for developing the following: problem solving, imagination, self expression, mathematics, creativity, science, self –esteem, social and emotional growth.

Poem Practice – JKs are working hard at practicing the following when presenting their poem:

-         Projection

-         Pacing

-         Enunciation and Articulation

-         Memorization

-         Body Language

Poetry memorization builds vocabulary and comprehension. As students practice their poems in class they are building presentation skills, which leads to a sense of pride, satisfaction and accomplishment. Keep up with practicing at home as well! :)

Have a great evening everyone!
