Math/UOI – today we reviewed 2D shapes.  We cut and glue the real life items in order to match with the 2D shapes.

This week we are learning the name, sound and formation of letters X and Y.  

JKs practiced writing these 2 letters on their Writing with Phonics workbook.

When using the workbook, JKs are instructed to form the letters correctly and write within the lines.

Math/UOI – today we read a story about rocket ship and learn what’s the purpose of a rocket ship.

Next, JKs made rocket ships.

Centers – today we had a variety of sorting stations. Sorting is such an important concept for children to understand that things are alike and different as well as that they can belong and be organized into certain groups. Getting practice with sorting at an early age is important for numerical concepts and grouping numbers and sets when they're older. This type of thinking starts them on the path of applying logical thinking to objects, mathematical concepts and every day life in general.

This week we are learning the name, sound and formation of letters X and Y.  

JKs put on their thinking cap and were instructed to dab all Xs and Ys on their paper.

  

Math/UOI – today we tied our UOI with math. Students reviewed patterns by cutting, gluing and finishing the pattern.

Centers – Today students explored puzzles during our purposeful play time. Puzzles are great to support the development of the following skills: hand-eye co-ordination, fine motor skills, shape recognition, memory and problem solving.

This week we are learning the name, sound and formation of letters X and Y.  

JKs used play dough to form these letters. Then they had some time to use the cutters to strengthen their fine motor skills. 

Math/UOI – today we made a list of modes of transportation that travel in the air. Then we used pattern blocks to build different types modes of transportation.

Centers – today students had the opportunity to play with pretend food. Playing pretend helps to develop the following: social, emotional and mental development and communication skills.

Happy Valentine's Day and 100th Day of School

We had a great day today!
It was very busy, but JKs had a lot of fun!
In the morning we had a Valentine's Day assembly with a fun house game.
Then JKs had music and French classes.
In the afternoon we had our 100th Day of School presentations. Next, we made crowns by counting the stickers or drawings on each paper strip.
Then we had gym class, completed the popcorn 100 chart activity and distributed the cards.
