Morning
circle time – we had our
special helper of the day adding the date to our calendar and leading us in our
morning songs.
Snack – JKs were encouraged to eat a healthy snack.
Police Officer Visit – we had a surprise
visit from the police officers and they brought 3 cruisers. This was nice to
tie with our UOI about transportation as students are understanding the purpose
of each mode of transportation.
Recess and Lunch
Language
– today we worked on short words. JKs
practiced sounding out the following words: cat, mat and rat. They cut and
paste letters with the objective of forming the words.
Math/UOI
– today we worked with 3D shapes foam
blocks. JKs built structures with 3D shapes.
Recess
and Lunch/snack
Centers –
today we had a variety of sorting
stations. Sorting is such an important concept for children to understand that things are alike and
different as well as that they can belong and be organized into certain groups.
Getting practice with sorting at an early age is important for
numerical concepts and grouping numbers and sets when they're older. This
type of thinking starts them on the path of applying logical thinking to
objects, mathematical concepts and every day life in general.
Have a great evening!
