Morning
circle time – we had our
special helper of the day adding the date to our calendar and leading us on our
morning songs. Today is Monday, so we had our sharing time where each student
had the chance of sharing what she/he did over the weekend. This is a great
opportunity to practice self-regulation as students take turns talking.
Reading Buddies – During reading buddies, students will benefit from:
· hearing stories read-aloud (modeling of
reading fluency, phrasing and expression)
·
having conversations with an older student
about topics that interest and involve them (extending their vocabulary, oral
language abilities)
·
having regular opportunities to practice familiar
reading with 1:1 assistance
·
enjoying fun, positive experiences with
‘big kid’ who is now a recognizable face in the school community
Snack – JKs were encouraged to eat a healthy snack.
Recess and Lunch
Language – we sang our phonics song for all letters A-Z. Here is
the link for our Jolly Phonics songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7K2rxtgQpd0
This
week we are learning the name, sound and formation of letter Z.
JKs
practiced forming the letter z using play dough. Then they had some time to
work on their fine motor skills by using play dough cutters.
Math/UOI – today we had our 3D show and tell. Students did great
at describing their item. After that, we worked in groups and categorized real
life objects into the correct shape (cylinder, sphere, cone and cube).

Centers –
Today students explored puzzles during our purposeful play time. Puzzles are
great to support the development of the following skills: hand-eye
co-ordination, fine motor skills, shape recognition, memory and problem
solving.
Have a great evening!
